Billion dollar software company Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ: ADBE) has helped people and businesses communicate images, information and ideas better and more cost effectively for more than 20 years. Its innovations in digital imaging, design and document technologies have helped set the standards for excellence in these markets and enabled millions of people to leverage the power of visual communications. Today, almost every commercial image we see — on the Web, on video screens large and small, or translated to print — has been touched by Adobe software.

From pioneering to standard-setting

Adobe's focus on defining new modes of digital communication stems from its founders, Co-chairmen Chuck Geschke and John Warnock, both of whom remain involved in the business, the software industry and the community. Building on their pioneering efforts, Adobe technology platforms are now pervasive across all customer segments where high fidelity communications matter — consumers, creative professionals and enterprises.

Adobe solutions are the gold standard in digital imaging with such benchmark offerings as Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The Adobe Creative Suite, meanwhile, represents a platform for the future of design and publishing. And Adobe technologies for intelligent documents are pushing the envelope in enterprise-level document services, helping organizations of all sizes automate and improve the effectiveness of document-based processes. Underlying these solutions is the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) technology. Adobe PDF and the ubiquitous Adobe Reader are the de facto standard for interactive viewing and sharing of documents and other content across computers and systems, regardless of platform or device.

When “good enough” is not enough

Today, more than 20 years after its founding, Adobe is committed to delivering technologies, products and services that customers and partners can build on and grow with. Through constant innovation, Adobe is pushing the boundaries of the digital universe it helped create.

Adobe digital imaging and video

Adobe's flagship Photoshop software and comprehensive professional digital video platform for film, broadcast, Internet and DVD help professionals, hobbyists and consumers edit, manage and share images and video with high quality results.

Digital imaging

As digital technology succeeds film as a preferred imaging medium, Adobe is helping a broad range of customers get the most out of digital photography. Helping drive the digital photography revolution since 1990, Adobe Photoshop remains the industry standard image editing software for imaging and video professionals worldwide. Photoshop Elements for image editing, Photoshop Album for managing and sharing images and Photoshop Album Starter Edition for basic organizing, fixing and sharing of digital photos have extended Adobe's leadership to the mainstream consumer category by bringing Photoshop-quality tools to hobbyists and casual picture takers.

Adobe digital imaging products and services all leverage core Adobe PDF technology and Adobe Reader software, for easier sharing and preserving of digital images.

Digital video

Adobe is also a leader in the digital video space with its Adobe Video Collection, an integrated solution for professional videographers. Anchored by Premiere Pro and Photoshop, the most popular application used in video production, the Video Collection also includes category-leading Adobe Encore DVD software for DVD authoring, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Audition. Customers can thus utilize a single integrated solution across the entire video workflow — from video and audio editing to compositing, effects and authoring.

Adobe creative design and publishing

Adobe has built on its early success with creative design professionals to deliver a complete digital design environment to create and publish content for print or the Web faster, more easily and more efficiently than ever. Designed to enhance the productivity and creativity of graphic artists, Web designers, layout designers, photographers and other creative professionals, the Adobe Creative Suite is a platform for the future of design and publishing. Creative Suite combines the best available digital imaging, vector graphics, Web publishing, page layout and PDF creation software — Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe InDesign CS, Adobe GoLive CS and Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional.

To help creative professionals better collaborate, both inside and outside of company walls, the Adobe Creative Suite also incorporates innovative file version technology, called Version Cue, for more efficient interaction across creative teams and between creative agencies and their clients. De facto standard Adobe PDF technology underlies the Creative Suite workflow.

Partnering closely with other leaders in the creative arena including Apple, HP, Intel, Dell and Xerox, Adobe is committed to providing customers with more closely integrated, state-of-the-art solutions to meet their creative challenges.

Adobe intelligent document platform

Large enterprises and governments worldwide are among the fastest-growing customer segments leveraging Adobe's digital leadership. Adobe's Intelligent Document Platform enables these organizations to connect people and processes across an organization's extended enterprise of employees, customers and partners — inside and outside the firewall. Intelligent documents resemble their paper analogs in visual “look and feel,” but incorporate business logic and use XML for data integration to help drive business processes.

With the Adobe Intelligent Document Platform, complex documents can be better integrated and more reliably handled, and people inside and outside an enterprise can be better integrated into business processes — i.e., work with core business systems rather than around them.

The enabling technologies for the platform are Adobe's document services. Adobe document services, which are based on Adobe Acrobat, PDF and the Adobe Reader, provide customers with the ability to implement document generation, collaboration and process management solutions across their organizations. Adobe Acrobat and PDF allow documents to be integrated across platforms and applications, ensuring documents view and print exactly as they were designed regardless of user platform.

Partnering with business infrastructure companies such as IBM and SAP, Adobe is working to extend the power of the document for governments and enterprises worldwide to transact business faster, more efficiently and with greater security.
