The Teach the Teacher program is designed to provide K-12 educators with the technology training they need to better teach their students and engage children in learning. The program continues to evolve in an effort to become more closely aligned with Adobe?s product donation program.
What is the Teach the Teacher program?
The Teach the Teacher program is an Adobe-sponsored program offering training to educators. Currently, the program is offered in the Bay Area with the focus of the program on local schools. Courses are offered free of charge, and teachers can register for classes via email. The courses focus on teaching educators to use Adobe products in order to bring technology to the classroom. Bringing technology to the classroom can be defined in any number of ways, for example: through providing teachers with time-saving ways to plan their course lessons so that they can dedicate more time to their students; or through providing teachers with technology knowledge that they can pass on to their students to complete projects or programs.
Who is eligible to attend courses?
K-12 educators in the San Francisco Bay Area or in the Seattle Public School District are eligible to register for Teach the Teacher courses. Teachers outside of this region may request that the program administrators make an exception and allow them to register for the courses by providing a description of how Adobe products will be utilized.
What courses are offered?
Courses are offered based on need and demand by the educators. Working with the local schools, Adobe will offer courses that are useful and desired by teachers to enhance technology in the classrooms. Specifically, Adobe will evaluate a) which courses allow teachers to impact their curriculum, b) which Adobe instructors are available to teach applications, c) which products are effective educational tools.
How do I receive Adobe products?
The focus of the Teach the Teacher program is on training, specifically on training the recipients within Santa Clara County and King County that have already received Adobe product donations. This program is not designed to provide products to teachers, but to provide training to a) teachers who have already received donations of products, and b) to teachers who may not yet have Adobe products, but believe they have an appropriate use for the Adobe product and would like to learn more about implementing their idea.
Schools and teachers interested in products can:
1) call 1-800-765-0062 for the nearest vendor that sells Adobe products at an educational-discount rate; or 2) call 1-888-288-4043 and request document #129 to receive the product donation application of Adobe's product donation program, administered by Gifts In Kind International.
Who should consider taking training courses?
Teachers should register for training if they want to learn how to utilize Adobe products as a tool or in their curriculum based on an idea or project they want to complete. Teachers registering for the trainings should have a general working knowledge of their operating system, as well as know how to open, print, save, and close files.
What should teachers expect to learn?
Teachers should already have general computer skills. These classes are designed to provide teachers with lessons on Adobe products, such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe PageMaker. The courses focus on basic lessons which will enable a teacher to become beginning users of Adobe products.
How do I get Class Schedules and Enroll?
Enrollment occurs via email. If you are a K-12 educator in the San Francisco Bay Area you may send an email to learn@adobe.com, and request to be added to the email distribution list.
