Adobe Systems Invests in Latin American Market with New Editions of Adobe Magazine

San Jose, Calif., (July 21, 1998) (Nasdaq:ADBE) -- Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced that it is launching new Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese editions of its Adobe Magazine to capitalize on the expanding market opportunities in this region. The launch further demonstrates the company's commitment to providing valuable information to registered users of Adobe products worldwide. Beginning in July, Adobe will circulate approximately 34,000 copies of the magazine to Australia and New Zealand, and 17,000 bonus copies will be distributed to users in Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Brazil and at trade shows throughout Latin America.

Adobe Magazine is an inspiring and educational publication for registered users of Adobe products. It offers "how-to" articles that take users step-by-step through projects, technologies and products, real-world Q&A with answers from Adobe's technical-support experts; feature stories that range from profiles and essays, to interviews and overviews. The Latin American and Brazilian editions will include local news with information regarding conferences, events and localized products for customers in Latin America and Brazil.

"A recent reader survey of our 600,000 North American readers of the magazine showed that 67 percent turn to Adobe Magazine as their main source of information about electronic publishing and related software and hardware," said Christine Yarrow, editor-in-chief, Adobe Magazine. "On average, readers spend more than one hour reading each issue."

"The new editions are an opportunity for our advertisers to reach the same high-caliber audience as they can with the North American edition of the magazine," said Jeff Lalier, advertising director of Adobe Magazine. "Our recent reader survey in North America showed that nearly 71 percent of our readers have taken one or more purchasing actions in the past 12 months as a direct result of reading Adobe Magazine."

"We have a long-term commitment to servicing our customers in Latin America and Brazil and have an ambitious plan to increase our market penetration there," said Luc Marin, Adobe director of marketing, Asia, Pacific, and Latin America region. "We plan to significantly expand resources available to our customers to ensure that we are well positioned to capitalize on the growth opportunities in all of our regions. We believe that this important region, with specific language requirements and significant growth in computing and software usage, merits its own edition of Adobe Magazine."

The new editions are available free to any registered Adobe product user residing in Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Brazil.
