Adobe Introduces PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0
Best-selling Consumer Photo-Editing Software Makes it Easier Than Ever To Share Photographic Creations

San Jose, Calif., (October 11, 1999) (Nasdaq:ADBE)--As more consumers share photos with friends and family on the Web, Adobe Systems Incorporated today introduced PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 for Windows. The newest version of the world's best-selling consumer photo-editing software offers new activities for greater creative expression including a new 3D capability, and enhancements that make it even easier for home users to email photos, send electronic postcards and post images to the Web.

"Our PhotoDeluxe customers didn't necessarily want more tools, but they did want to do more photo sharing," said Kyle Mashima, vice president of business and imaging solutions. "With PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0, we've concentrated on eliminating the complexities of sharing photos on the Web. Now, PhotoDeluxe not only provides fun ways to enhance digital photos, but offers friends and families an affordable and compelling way to easily stay connected."

PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 continues to provide simple step-by-step instructions on touching up and editing photos, as well as guided activities that allow customers to combine their personal photos with professionally-designed templates to create everything from cards to calendars. And the new version makes it easier than ever to share those creations.

There are a variety of photo sharing options provided by PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0, including a direct link to Adobe ActiveShare.com, where users can create free private, Web communities for sharing their photos. Thanks to a partnership with eCircles.com, PhotoDeluxe customers can keep in touch with their close-knit groups of friends and family by creating their own eCircles on ActiveShare.com where they can share photos, have threaded conversations, and even keep up to date on important events online.

ActiveShare.com also provides tips for working with PhotoDeluxe software and helpful advice on digital imaging techniques, products and services.

The electronic sharing choices don't end there. PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 automatically sizes and formats photos and attaches them to emails, eliminating the need to launch a separate email application. Sending electronic postcards and puzzles is also a snap with an easy-to-follow, guided four-step process.

Expanding the Creative Possibilities
With seasonal activities, triggered by the computer's clock, there's no more excuses for forgetting a holiday or special date. With new projects that cover everything from Mother's Day cards to back-to-school stickers, the latest collection makes it easy to create that special keepsake.

PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 takes on a whole new dimension with 3D activities that allow users to add their photos to 3D objects or insert 3D clip art onto their photos. And users can share their 3D creations with everyone because PhotoDeluxe is not required for viewing the images in 3D.

New Adobe Changeables provide an expanded assortment of morphable pieces of clip art to fit any whim. A simple click on the slide bars vary attributes such as the shape, color and style of an object to achieve just the right effect.

PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 now makes organizing photos as simple as drag and drop. Users simply name albums or add comments to the back of photos. Can't remember which album that picture of the sunset is in? Not a problem with a powerful search capability which finds photos by captions, names, dates or any other text in the comment sections. Also, because PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 shares the same technology as AdobeActiveShare, ActiveShare users can still easily access their captioned photos and albums in PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 when they decide to upgrade.

PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 features direct integration with Kodak® Picture CD ™. PhotoDeluxe reads the Picture CD as its own album with thumbnails captured for browsing. When users open a photo, PhotoDeluxe indicates which CD to insert, eliminating the guesswork.

Availability
PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 for Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or Windows 4.0 NT will be available next month in November for $49 (U.S.). Upgrades for registered owners of earlier versions of PhotoDeluxe will be available for $39 (U.S.). Interested customers can place their orders immediately at www.adobe.com.
