Incorporates AmazingMail.com Service for Sending Postcards of Digital Photos Through the U.S. Mail
San Jose, Calif., (December 20, 1999) (Nasdaq:ADBE)--Family gatherings. Holiday gifts. And picture takinga lot of picture taking. The holiday season is here. Adobe is making it easier than ever to share those special moments with friends and family by introducing today an enhanced version of Adobe® ActiveShare® software, available as a free download from www.AdobeActiveShare.com. The newest version of Adobes consumer software for capturing, editing, organizing and storing digital photos extends its photo sharing capabilities with the integration of AmazingMail.com postcards. Through a direct link to AmazingMail.com within Adobe ActiveShare software, consumers can easily and affordably add photos and personalized messages to postcards then have them printed and sent via the U.S. Post Office to friends and family who may not have Internet access.
Available immediately, Adobe ActiveShare 1.3 desktop software for Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT 4.0 integrates with its companion Web site, AdobeActiveShare.com, to present a complete Web and software solution for sharing photographs on the Web. Now consumers have an end-to-end solution for sharing digital photos in personalized Web communities, via email, in print and now through the postal mail. Thanks to a partnership with eCircles.com, ActiveShare helps users keep in touch with close-knit groups of friends and family by creating their own eCircles on AdobeActiveShare.com. On AdobeActiveShare.com, consumers can share photos, have threaded conversations, and keep up to date on important events online, in addition to sending AmazingMail postcards via the U.S. Post Office.
"With this newest version of Adobe ActiveShare software, Adobe continues its goal of enhancing personal communications with the addition of services such as AmazingMail.com," said Kyle Mashima, vice president, Adobe Consumer and Online Solutions. " Our collaboration with AmazingMail.com allows us to extend the photo sharing reach of ActiveShare to the community of people who dont have Internet access. ActiveShare and AmazingMail.com combine to serve a broad audience of people who want an alternative way to share their digital photos."
Through the ActiveShare software, consumers can simply select a photograph then drag it to the "create a postcard" icon within the software to create a postcard that is automatically printed and mailed to recipients in the United States. Postcards can be stored for up to a year and sent out on the selected date, ensuring that important events are remembered.
The first AmazingMail.com postcard is free. As a special launch promotion, AmazingMail.com is offering two-for-one postcards through the end of the year allowing consumers to send postcards to friends and family for as little as 45 cents (U.S.) per card, including printing and mailing. After that, postcards can be purchased individually for 99 cents or in packages of 10 for $8.90 (U.S.), with additional price breaks for larger quantities.
In addition to offering new ways to share digital photos with friends and family, the latest version of Adobe ActiveShare software makes the quality of the pictures consumers share even better. When uploading photos to the Web for either on screen viewing or for printing, Adobe ActiveShare allows consumers to select the best resolution for achieving the desired results - either high-resolution for printing or low resolution for on-screen viewing. The new ability to upload high-resolution files improves the image quality for printing services offered on the site including postcards and personalized novelty and gift items.
