Adobe Illustrator 9.0 Elevates Web Publishing Solution With Revolutionary Graphics Creation Tools For The Web And Print
Industry Standard Vector Graphics Creation Software Introduces Breakthrough Transparency Technology

Internet World, Los Angeles (April 4, 2000) (Nasdaq: ADBE)--Adobe Systems Incorporated, the leader in digital publishing for the Web, print and dynamic media, today announced Adobe® Illustrator® 9.0, a major upgrade to the industry-standard vector graphics creation software for the Web and print. Adobe Illustrator 9.0 further enhances the company’s integrated suite of Web products by providing design professionals powerful tools for creating and optimizing Web graphics. In addition, groundbreaking transparency capabilities allow users to achieve results that were previously impossible in any software application.

Charlie Townes, senior digital artist at Capps Digital, a leading electronic design and services firm for marketing and advertising clients throughout the world, relies on the new version of Adobe Illustrator as a key component of the firm’s design tools. "I truly consider this version to be revolutionary—for both Web and print. The utilization of the blending modes, transparency, and effects from Photoshop is incredible. I was sitting at my workstation with my jaw dropping when I saw and realized the creative power which Illustrator 9 will give to designers."

Superb Web Graphics
For companies doing business on the Web, Adobe Illustrator 9.0 is an essential software application for creating highly sophisticated interactive Web sites that engage customers and generate site traffic. Design professionals can easily transform fully editable artwork into high quality compact vector, raster or animated Web graphics using the familiar Adobe tools and interface. The new Pixel Preview mode makes it easy to see how vector graphics will look rasterized in Web browsers. Through built-in support for the Flash (.swf) and the W3C’s Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) formats, designers can produce smaller, more flexible vector files that download faster and display more accurately on screen. Adobe Illustrator 9.0 also integrates tightly with Adobe’s family of professional Web applications including Adobe GoLive® 5.0, Adobe LiveMotion™ and Adobe Photoshop®5.5.

Innovative Transparency Technology
The new transparency capabilities in Adobe Illustrator 9.0 are the most powerful controls available in any vector illustration program and are guaranteed to print with superb results and minimum effort. Users can quickly apply a wide variety of transparency effects to any object, including raster images and type, so that underlying objects become visible

Powerful Productivity Enhancements
Adobe Illustrator 9.0 contains dozens of new features to help designers work faster and more efficiently. These include live object and layer effects, graphic styles, and layer enhancements that allow designers to edit as they go, without modifying the original artwork.

Seamless Adobe Integration
Adobe Illustrator 9.0 integrates seamlessly with Adobe’s family of professional graphics programs for the Web, print, and dynamic media, including Adobe GoLive, Adobe LiveMotion, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign® Adobe Premiere™ and Adobe After Effects®.
