Adobe® Photoshop® and Photoshop LE Capture Prestigious International and Industry Digital Imaging Awards
PC Magazine, MacHome Journal, American Photo, and Europe’s Technical Image Press Association Honor Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and LE for Digital Imaging Excellence

San Jose, Calif., (August 14, 2000) (Nasdaq: ADBE)--Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced that Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and Adobe Photoshop LE software won top graphic software honors from PC Magazine, MacHome Journal, and American Photo magazines, as well as from Europe's Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). With more than 3 million customers worldwide, Adobe Photoshop is widely recognized as the industry standard for professional image editing. Adobe Photoshop LE, a more affordable version of Photoshop popular among photo hobbyists and enthusiasts, began selling at retail last year and has received more than 50 positive reviews in national and regional publications.

In PC Magazine's "13th Annual Readers Survey", published in the July issue, readers chose Photoshop over CorelDraw, Jasc Paint Shop Pro and MGI PhotoSuite as their preferred image editing program. Readers ranked Photoshop highest in all categories including overall performance, satisfaction with technical support, and likelihood to recommend the product to others.

MacHome Journal announced its "8th Annual Home Choice Awards" in the August 2000 issue, naming Photoshop 5.5 as "Best Image Editor".  After evaluating several image editing software products for the award, the editors at MacHome Journal agreed "...at the end of the day it's Adobe Photoshop that reigns supreme."   Editors especially liked the new Web features, including ImageReady® 2.0 software that allows designers to construct JavaScript rollovers and animated GIFs.

The July/August issue of American Photo featured lauded Adobe Photoshop LE for "Outstanding Performance" in the software category publication praised Photoshop LE's ability to create multiple layers "essential for compositing and retouching" and its big photo-editing toolbox and special effects filters, among other accolades. American Photo is one of the leading photography magazines for consumers and hobbyists with a circulation of almost a half million readers.

In addition, TIPA announced that Adobe Photoshop 5.5 won "Best Imaging Software for 2000–2001" during its annual meeting in Madrid in June. The association cited the integration of ImageReady 2.0 and the various extraction tools as helping "to make the photographer's job easier, especially when dealing with complex selections and web graphics." TIPA is the largest independent non-profit professional association of publishers of photography and image magazines in Europe.
