Adobe Drives Network Publishing with new Web, Cross-Media, Collaboration and Imaging Products and Partnerships

SAN JOSE, Calif., (September 24, 2001) (Nasdaq: ADBE)--Adobe Systems Incorporated, the leader in network publishing, today made several product and technology announcements at Seybold San Francisco supporting the company's strategic direction to enable delivery of visually-rich, personalized content to anyone, anywhere on any device.

"We are at the forefront of this category and our newly announced Web, cross-media, collaboration and imaging products, along with new and extended partnerships are shaping the way that customers create, manage and deliver content."

Major product and technology announcements made today by Adobe include:

To illustrate where Adobe's new products and partner announcements fit into the network publishing landscape, Chizen, along with executive vice president, Shantanu Narayen, will give a keynote address on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 12:15 p.m. at Moscone Center in San Francisco.

New Products

Adobe InDesign 2.0 helps to solve customer layout and design problems, delivering the cross-media tools to manage current and future publishing. Adobe Illustrator 10 is the ultimate vector graphics tool for cross-media design professionals, Web designers and Web developers for efficiently publishing artwork. InDesign 2.0 and Illustrator 10 are the first fully OSX-compliant products from Adobe.

Building out the network publishing platform, Adobe AlterCast, a new dynamic imaging server software, and XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform), a technology framework that enhances workflows, were also announced today. AlterCast represents a new direction for Adobe. AlterCast is built on award-winning Adobe Photoshop® and Adobe Illustrator technology, while supporting industry-standard image file formats. XMP is the ultimate network publishing platform, providing Adobe applications and partners with a common metadata framework that standardizes the creation, processing and interchange of document metadata across publishing workflows.

Adobe also introduced Acrobat Reader for Pocket PC and Adobe Studio, the premier design network for the creative community. The Acrobat Reader for Pocket PC allows mobile business professionals the flexibility to view content in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) on devices based on the popular Pocket PC software from Microsoft Corp. Adobe Studio provides a network publishing solution for creative professionals.
