Adobe to Certify Financial Statements

SEC Statement Under Oath to Include Quarter Ending August 30, 2002

SAN JOSE, Calif. — August 12, 2002 (NASDAQ: ADBE) — Adobe Systems Incorporated, a leader in network publishing, today announced that the company will comply with the recent order issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission requiring the filing of sworn statements by the CEO and CFO of public companies with annual revenues greater than $1.2 billion.

In compliance with SEC guidelines, CEO Bruce Chizen and CFO Murray Demo will file the sworn statements on or before the company's due date of October 14, 2002. The certifications will cover the company's 2002 proxy statement and annual report on Form 10-K for fiscal year 2001, as well as periodic reports for the first, second and third quarters of fiscal year 2002.
