Adobe Shares 2004 Success With Local Communities

Company adds US$1 million in cash grants to aid hunger relief and other programs where Adobe employees live and work

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Dec. 17, 2004 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced it is providing an additional US$1 million in cash grants to community organizations this year, increasing the company's total commitment in cash grants, educational scholarships, matching gift funds and product donations to approximately US$5 million in 2004.

Approximately half of the additional funding will be directed at alleviating hunger in communities that are home to Adobe's largest employee sites. Food banks in San Jose, Calif., Seattle, Wash. and Ottawa, Canada will each receive a cash donation of US$100,000. An additional US$200,000 will be donated to the United Nations World Food Program.

"Adobe has performed exceptionally well this year, posting record revenue and profits," said Bruce R. Chizen, Adobe president and chief executive officer. "We believe in sharing our success with the communities where our employees live and work. We're very pleased to be in position this year to boost our support of programs that target hunger and homelessness relief, promote education and support the arts."

In San Jose, Calif., the Second Harvest Food Bank will use Adobe funding to supplement the 2004 Holiday Food Drive now under way. Northwest Harvest in Seattle, Wash., will apply its Adobe donation directly to food purchase and distribution. The Ottawa Food Bank in Ottawa, Canada, will extend its support to K-12 school breakfast programs, adding schools currently on a waiting list. The United Nations World Food Program will direct a portion of Adobe's grant to The Country Program for India, home to Adobe's Noida office.

Other cash grants also made possible by the additional Adobe funding include: The American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund, First ACT (Arts, Creativity & Technology) in Silicon Valley, the YMCA, the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County, Silicon Valley Reads and the Friends of the Guadalupe River Park and Gardens.
