The Adobe® PDF Print Engine 2 is the next-generation, full-featured PDF renderer, delivered to our OEM partners as a Software Development Kit (SDK). Version 2 builds on the success of the previous version, which is the industry-leading technology platform for prepress workflows in Computer-to-Plate imaging (CTP) for offset printing. Version 2 adds a range of features designed to enhance performance and reliability, and to help streamline print production workflow. It is also a key enabling technology for another industry first – PDF workflows for VDP – helping to provide a new level of flexibility for offset printers who are considering the purchase of a digital press, or who already have one.
Adobe PDF Print Engine 2 reduces unwanted surprises, and disruptive, last-minute prepress fix-ups in print workflows of all complexity. Building on the existing PDF workflow foundation, offset printers can harness the power of PDF Print Engine 2 to handle rapid turnaround print jobs, basic personalization, and even easier full-fidelity desktop previewing. This is possible because the advanced rendering engine used for final output is the same as the one used to view jobs at every point of the workflow.
