Speakers Bio

Greg Rewis
Chief Web Technologies Evangelist, Macromedia

In January 1999, Greg joined Macromedia as a Senior Internet Evangelist. Greg quickly mastered the Macromedia Internet product line, specialising in Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash. Drawing upon years of experience and knowledge of Internet issues and technologies to solve sometimes daunting problems, Greg is a respected expert within the industry and a valued resource for his colleagues.

After attending Louisiana State University, Greg served in the US Army attached to the National Security Agency working in the field of Electronic Communications Warfare. In Denmark he helped implement and train users in Desktop Publishing. He was Desktop Systems Manager for Egmont Publishing in Copenhagen.

Greg joined P.INK Software GmbH, headed by Andreas Poliza as the Product Manager. He rejoined Andreas Poliza at GoLive Systems in early '97, initially taking on the creation of a Support department, followed by the creation of GoLive's Evangelism and Training programs.

James Talbot
Chief Instructor, Macromedia

James has been with Macromedia for four years. Before he came to Macromedia, he worked extensively with client server systems building e-learning.

James started out at Macromedia as a Sales Engineer where he traveled around the world visiting customers and doing seminars. After the Allaire merger, he moved to New York City on the East Coast, from California, and worked for the Macromedia Educational Services team.

He has put together the Flash curriculum as well as assisting with other products. James has also worked on consulting projects for large customers including TV Guide, AOL/Time Warner and Boeing. He is the co-author of the new Object Oriented ActionScript 2.0 book by New Riders press.

James has also worked directly with the Flash engineers and provided guidance on future product direction. He develops curriculum, teaches courses, performs instructor certifications, and works on making customers successful. James has also worked on all of the Macromedia certification exams as well as contributing to Macromedia Press books, and has spoken at both DevCon and FlashForward each year these events have taken place.

Vikrant Karvir
Director of Product Management, Macromedia

Vikrant Karvir is Director of Product Management at Macromedia responsible for the business management of flash technology.

Prior to Macromedia, Vikrant ran platform marketing at Microsoft.  He has previous enterprise product management experience at Siebel Systems, consulting experience at Deloitte Consulting and EDS and has an MBA from Northwestern University.



Chak Ming Fai
Server Product Manager, Macromedia South Asia

Chak Ming Fai is the Server Product Managerfor Macromedia South Asia and is responsible for developing key partner relationships with major IT vendors and solution providers. He also handles evangelism and technology transfer to developers.

Chak graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Computer Science. Prior to joining Macromedia, he was with Microsoft Singapore, handling business development and content operations for MSN. He has also had technical field sales experience in IBM and running his own Web design startup.

Talwinder Singh Minhas
Senior elearning Consultant, Macromedia South Asia

As Senior elearning Consultant for Macromedia’s ASEAN and South Asia markets, Talwinder Singh Minhas is responsible for growing and managing key strategic client relationships, conducting product demonstrations and thoroughly acquainting preferred distributors and resellers on all Macromedia products.  

Talwinder commands a proven technical and working knowledge of Macromedia products, amassed from his hard core IT experience in Visual Computing.  Prior to joining Macromedia, Talwinder was a Technical Consultant with Globesoft Pte Ltd, a Singapore company specialising in IT Consulting and Services.  He provided consulting and conducting training and presentations in the areas of Web-based solutions and applications, as well as in high-end Multimedia Applications and Visual Consulting.  Some of his clients included Shell Global Solutions, Hewlett-Packard Singapore (Sales), the National Library Board, the Economic Development Board of Singapore, Fuji Xerox and StarHub.


Derek Chim
General Manager, Product Development & Marketing, iaSolution Inc.

Derek Chim is the General Manager (product development & marketing) of Aplix responsible for the overall product portfolio planning and brand management. Before joining iaSolution, Derek spent more than 8 years working in multiple industries including high-tech, professional services, telecommunications, banking, FMCG and property/home services throughout Asia and Europe.

Derek has been working with McKinsey & Company since 1997, as Practice Manager for Business Technology Office (BTO), McKinsey’s Information Technology (IT) practice, Research manager for the London, Hong Kong and Taipei offices since 1997.  Prior to that, Derek was the Co-founder and Senior Vice-President of House18 holdings (www.house18.com), in charge of the holding's overall product development strategy from design, development to innovation, and eCRM implementation since the start of the business in September 1999.

Derek received his marketing degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, in which he was also the National Vice-President of AIESEC (The International Association of Students in Economics and Management).
