Rich internet applications use an engaging rich media presentation to enhance communication, but they also provide highly responsive interaction and local intelligence to enhance the quality of interaction with the user. At Macromedia we've been thinking a lot about four essential qualities that make an interactive experience more engaging for wizards and weenies alike. This session will challenge and (we hope) inspire you to deliver experiences that are seamless, focused, connected, and aware.

Migrating to RIA from traditional web and client server applications (James Talbot)

Migration from traditional visual tools such as Visual Basic, Delphi to RIA. The rise in use of Rich Internet Applications has forced designers to rethink application design from a web based perspective. This session will teach you to think beyond the page-based UI metaphor from HTML, as well as from traditional client server tools such as visual basic and Delphi. You will understand the new patterns to use when designing RIAs.

Here's your chance to get your hands dirty with Flex. In this 90-minute hands-on session you'll create a Flex application using Flex Builder. You will use controls, containers, and bindings to create a data-driven application that uses external data supplied from XML and web services.
