Is there a Flash Player beta for other languages?
Flash Player Public Beta is available in all languages; however, the Public Beta installers are only in English and we can only accept feedback in English at this time.
What will be the name of the upcoming release of Flash Player?
The next release of Flash Player will ship as Flash Player 9. During beta releases on Adobe Labs, this player was known as Flash Player 8.5.
Why was the name changed from Flash Player 8.5 to Flash Player 9?
Flash Player 9 better reflects the significance of the advancements to the runtime environment to our customers and the market. This also allows us to maintain consistency between the player version and the file format version as we have in previous releases. The SWF file format for this release is version 9.

The features of this release remain the same; the only change is to the version number. Instead of shipping as Flash Player 8.5, the player will ship as Flash Player 9. There will not be a version 8.5 release.
I have questions or requests regarding the upcoming Flash Player release. How can I get answers, or where should I send requests?
We welcome you to send suggestions for the features you'd like to see in future versions of our products. Please submit your requests.
Does this mean an updated version of Flash is on the way? When will it be released? How can I get a beta of Flash?
Adobe is making available a public beta version of Flash Player in order to ensure compatibility with existing Flash and Flex content. At this time Adobe has not announced a release date for the next commercial release of the Macromedia Flash authoring tool. However, Adobe does plan to make a public alpha of the next release of the Flash authoring tool available to users via the Adobe Labs website later this year.
If my content does not function with Flash Player Public Beta, what should I do? Does this mean it will not function with the final release of Flash Player 9?
If your content does not function as intended please submit a bug via our feedback form. We will validate and address the issue. We make every effort to fix bugs before we ship.
How do I uninstall Flash Player Public Beta and reinstall Flash Player 8?
Instructions for uninstalling Flash Player can also be found in Tech Note #14157.
  1. Download the appropriate uninstaller:

  2. Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it (for example, your Desktop).
  3. Close all browsers or other applications that use Flash Player (such as IM) completely.
  4. Run the uninstaller. This will uninstall Macromedia Flash Player from all browsers on the system. To reinstall Macromedia Flash Player 8, visit the Player Download Center.
What are some other known issues?
  1. The splash screen of the Mac installer does not display the correct player version number. However, those of you who have read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" may notice that it does contain the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything.
  2. Vector printing doesn't always work properly (165540). The current workaround is to print in bitmap mode.
  3. Some MP3 files with binary ID3 tags may not play properly (168555). MP3 files containing pre-pended ID3 tags whose payloads contain binary data inside (album art images, for example) may not play properly.
  4. Flash Player fails to install for all installed versions of Netscape Navigator (154252). To install Flash Player, you can manually copy the NPSWF32.dll into the appropriate "plugins" folder.
  5. The Beta 3 Mac OS X Installer will not launch on non-English systems (166652). If you wish to install the Flash Player on a non-English Mac OS X system, select "English" as your first language in the "International" control panel "Language" tab.
