Post-announce upgrade FAQ
How do I know if I qualify for a post-announce upgrade?
Free upgrades are available for a limited time only. You must have purchased within the dates specified and make your request before the posted expiration of the offer. Please see our post-announce upgrade policy for details.
Do you notify customers of upcoming post-announce upgrade offers?
We post current offers on our website . Volume customers receive automatic fulfillment of post-announce upgrades because we have a record of their purchase dates and contact information.
What do I need to do to get my free upgrade?
Contact Adobe Customer Service by phone for Adobe branded products.
I just missed the eligibility period. Can I still get an upgrade?
If you purchased within a week of the start of the eligibility period, or if the offer expired within the last few days, we may be able to make an exception. Please contact Adobe Customer Service .
I'm not eligible for the post-announce upgrade. What are my options?
If you purchased prior to the eligibility dates, you may purchase an upgrade. Please see the product page on the Adobe website for upgrade options.
I have a volume license. How do I get my upgrade?
If you are a volume license holder, you don't need to make a request. Because we have a record of your purchase dates and contact information, volume license customers receive automatic fulfillment of free upgrades, usually four to six weeks after the new release ships.
Can I get a post-announce upgrade in a different language?
Post-announce upgrades are only available in the same language you originally purchased. However, if the new version no longer offers your language, or if the previous version did not offer your language and the new version now offers it, then you may request another language.
Note: You may have to wait until the new language is released to make your request. Once you have upgraded, you cannot change language without purchasing a new copy of the software.
I was denied when I applied for a post-announce upgrade. Can I re-apply?
Adobe will not accept more than one request for a free upgrade on the same serial number. If you want to contest your denial of a free upgrade, please contact Customer Service and explain the situation. Be sure to include the serial number you used to make your request.
What if I don't have a proof of purchase?
We cannot approve a request without a valid proof of purchase.
If you purchased direct, then we will have a record of your purchase. If you purchased from a reseller, request a copy of your receipt from the reseller.
Once I fax in my proof of purchase, how long does it take to approve my request?
Please allow two weeks for processing. We will process your upgrade in the order it was received, but during free upgrade periods we may have a backlog of requests.
Macromedia branded upgrade request only: Your web page says my serial number is invalid. How do I get my upgrade?
If you see the message "We're sorry, the number you submitted is invalid," check the serial number and ensure the following:
- You are entering the serial number correctly
- The serial number is for the eligible product and version
- The serial number is for a single-user license. (Volume licenses are fulfilled automatically and are not accepted by the request form.)
Macromedia branded upgrade request only: Your web page says my serial number was used already. What's wrong?
If you see the message "We're sorry, you already registered this product. You are not eligible for another free upgrade," then this serial number has already been used to make a request for a post-announce upgrade. If you have made a request earlier, you should have received an e-mail with instructions to complete fulfillment. You must go to the URL in this e-mail to complete the request. If you do not have this e-mail, or this is the first time you have made a request, please contact Customer Service for assistance.
Macromedia branded upgrade request only: When I go to the Online Store to get my free upgrade, my cart shows a charge for the software; am I doing anything wrong?
If your cart does not indicate a full credit for the upgrade price when you add the upgrade to your shopping cart, you have not reached the correct personalized page for your fulfillment. Check to make sure that you entered the entire URL in your browser. The fulfillment URLs are long, and sometimes break in some e-mail clients. Once you enter the complete URL you will see the Complimentary Upgrade To (your product) page, and your cart will show a credit line amount of zero.
Macromedia branded upgrade request only: I can't download my free upgrade. What can I do?
You may have a slow connection, or a browser conflict. Please see our Download ServiceNote for download help. If you are still unable to complete the download, please contact Customer Service for assistance.
Macromedia branded upgrade request only: How long is my fulfillment e-mail valid?
Your fulfillment URL will expire two weeks after the date it was sent.
