“Technology is a tool, not a learning outcome.”
Over the last seven years, Avi Spector has worked as a pedagogical consultant with the Riverside School Board and the RECIT FGA Regional Service. His mandate is to support general adult education teachers in the nine Quebec English School Boards. With a strong belief that pedagogy should always drive technology in the classroom, Spector helps teachers find relevant and sustainable ways of using technology to enhance learning and develop student competencies.
Before taken on this role, Spector pursued a career in digital animation, teaching at Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. In that position, he was an avid user of Adobe technologies for foundational animation learning, with a strong focus on Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Spector now draws on his past experience to create in-house educational video capsules, to guide teachers in implementing a flipped classroom model, and to collaborate on a variety of multimedia projects.
