“The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.”

Beth O’Malley has been teaching media in Queensland state high schools for 10 years and is a big advocate for visual literacy and technology in the classroom. She works on collaborative Adobe InDesign projects with students at both junior and senior high levels in a range of disciplines. She mentors junior high school students to raise their awareness of cyberbullying and is pleased that they have gone on to create their own visual literacy aids on cyberbullying in the school community using Adobe Photoshop. Her senior students work extensively with Adobe Premiere Pro to create video productions that have screened in short film competitions all over the state.
O’Malley served as a member of the Film, Television and New Media panel for the Queensland Studies Authority. The role gave her the opportunity to support other state schools with senior assessment rankings.
