Teaching at her elementary school’s 1926 library media center, an active learning lab focused on creative problem solving, Johanna Riddle uses Adobe® Photoshop® Elements and Adobe Premiere® Elements software to integrate technology and visual learning into traditional disciplines. Her students engage in “hands on, minds on” technology education, developing and interpreting information through visual, textual, and auditory communication.
Riddle's work with technology and integrated learning was recognized with a Smithsonian Learning Innovation Award and has been included in the Smithsonian Museum of History “Age of Information” archives. A nationally certified teacher in the field of media education, Riddle has also worked professionally in the fields of art and museum education, earning honors as Florida’s Art Teacher of the Year and Museum Educator of the Year.
She teaches and trains nationally on technology and visual literacy, with presentations and workshops at NECC, Computers In Libraries Conference, the Florida Association for Media in Education Conference, and elsewhere. Riddle has also authored several publications on the subject.
