“Education is learning what you didn't even know you didn't know.”
Leonard Braber teaches video and animation at the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He also teaches theater techniques: professional lighting, sound, and live video. Many of his students start their careers as cameramen, video editors, or web designers or find jobs in the movie or theater industry as professional light, sound, or video technicians. He uses a wide range of cameras in his lessons, including simple HD cameras, DSLR cameras, and professional HDV cameras. His students learn to work with camera cranes and even Steadicam.
Braber has been teaching since 1997. He especially relates to younger students and loves getting them motivated to push themselves to achieve goals they never previously imagined possible. “If you give students great opportunities and responsibility, they can do amazing things.” Braber is personally interested in new and challenging software. He is now teaching Adobe® Dreamweaver®, Flash® Professional, Photoshop®, InDesign®, Illustrator®, and Adobe Premiere® Pro. He also began working with Adobe Muse™ and After Effects® after visiting the 2013 Adobe MAX.
