Release date: November 13, 2007
Vulnerability identifier: APSB07-19
CVE number: CVE-2007-5905
Platform: All platforms
Affected software versions: ColdFusion MX 7 and ColdFusion 8
An error in ColdFusion MX7 and ColdFusion 8 applications could allow an attacker to hijack user sessions. This issue does not apply to customers using J2EE session management.
Adobe recommends ColdFusion MX 7 and ColdFusion 8 customers update their installation using the instructions in technote KB402805.
Adobe categorizes this as a moderate issue and recommends affected users patch their installations.
The identified vulnerability could potentially allow session hijacking for applications utilizing CFID or CFTOKEN. An attacker could take advantage of an implementation issue with an application built with ColdFusion to potentially hijack customer sessions. The attacker could then view sensitive information or make requests impersonating the legitimate user, among other actions. This issue does not apply to customers using J2EE session management. This issue is remotely exploitable.
Adobe would like to thank Michael Chabot for reporting this vulnerability and for working with us to help protect our customers' security.
