Problem

The indent for lists is often different in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Solution

The cause is the default indent in the CSS for Firefox. It is necessary to allow for that.

See http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/503/cpsid_50388.html for information on what to change in your CSS.

Reason to synchronize margin and padding

Lists render differently in other browsers, as well. This is one of the reasons for eliminating margin and padding in the beginning of a CSS sheet with the universal selector: * { margin:0; padding:0 }. This starts all browsers on an even playing field where indents and spacing is concerned.
