openForums is an Open Source (under the GNU General Public License) Forums / Conference systems. It is *not* based on the old Allaire Forums product; its development is the result of disappointment with Allaire Forums' performance and interface. Its features rival those of CFForums 2000 and Fusetalk, both systems costing over a thousand dollars. It is free, unencrypted, and you are free to modify and distribute it. Common features include multiple conference support, forums shared across conferences, forum-level permissions, AOL, ICQ, and E-mail integration, E-mail based thread subscription, and delegatable moderation. What makes it really stand out is that it is 1) open source, 2) free, and 3) it adapts to existing layouts via "Header" and "Footer" files which are CFINCLUDED. I've fit it into my company homepage seemlessly (see the example).
