DBX - CF/DB Development Tool

By websolete December 04, 2003

DBX is a CF application which provides an interface into SQLServer 7/2K databases and provides ease of use functions for exploring objects and copying values. An invaluable tool for most db-related coding efforts and particularly with stored procedures and the creation of db-interactive CFC's. Can generate cut and paste CFQUERY and CFSTOREDPROC code based on the datatypes contained in the given db object, and allows the viewing of View, Stored Procedure and User Defined Function schemata. When generating stored procedure (both cfquery and cfstoredproc) code, the code generator generates 'positionally correct' SQL statements. The Java native drivers currently shipping with CFMX do not support passing named parameters to stored procs, but rather rely on sequence and position; DBX takes care of this for you. DBX does not use an application scope, nor does it use sessions. It uses cookies to keep login status and to record certain configuration information, and uses recursion (calling itself) in order to create its own 'application' type variables. As such, it is safe to deploy anywhere, either in its own top level directory or as a subdirectory of another application. Full coverage of features can be found in the inline notes within index.cfm in the root of the app directory.

For staying up to date, please look for the Check for Update feature within the application; additionally, the download url will always return the most current version.
