Changing photo to paths

It's frequent to have to transform a picture in paths and the automatic systems available are not so reliable. At this point the only way to do it is by hands... but which is the best way to proceed ?

Ummm.... Honestly, I cannot read spanish fluently!!! If it the tutorial was in english, maybe then would I recommend this tutorial, but as said before, I cannot read spanish fluently.
