Photojournalists and other videographers often lack a quick way to pull frame grabs from video. The VideoGrabs script and action set give you a fast and efficient way to do do. There are two ways to use the content that comes packaged with the installer. 1. Drag video frames onto the VideoGrabs application droplet. After you have a video frame grab, drag the image to the VideoGrabs application. If you’re not sure how to get a frame grab, see instructions here: http://bluerogue.net/files/GrabbingVideoStills.pdf Two dialog boxes will appear. Enter your name in the first and a brief caption in the second. This metadata will be written to the image during processing. After Photoshop CS3 processes the file, you can find the finished copy in the VideoGrabs folder on your desktop. That’s it! 2. Use the action set that installs with Photoshop CS3 Extended. After the VideoGrabs application and action set have been installed, launch Photoshop CS3 Extended.Open a video file in Photoshop. If the Animation palette is not visible, select it from Window > Animation. Move the blue playhead across the timeline to the frame you want and press command-F1. The frame will process and save into the VideoGrabs folder on the desktop. You can continue to scrub across the timeline and grab frames. The main thing to be aware of when using this action set is that it does not adjust the pixel aspect ratio of your video. If you do not adjust this yourself, you may end up with stretched images. Please see Understanding Pixel Aspect Ratio on bluerogue.net ( http://bluerogue.net/files/PAR.pdf ) for more information. This does not necessarily apply to video shot in 720p or 1080p (1920×1080) as those formats have square pixels by default. For more information, see the accompanying documentation.
