Offering Detail

I was used to using the Apps feature in Chrome as I found my Gmail inbox would get buried in tabs if I had it open in a standard browser window. This is the best solution currently available for anyone who has their Gmail inbox tweaked with different add-ons like to-do lists, calendar etc. Things that GeeMail and all the non-Air apps I've looked at ignore. Love the fact that it's a process unto itself too, so you can easily CMD+TAB or ALT+TAB to it.

Some problems / possible improvements that would take GMDesk to the next level:

- When clicking a link in an email message, it opens in a tiny window without any navigation options. Would much rather at least have the option to open in default browser.

- There are some strange issues with the check-boxes, as another user mentioned.

- Lacks some basic functionality, like keyboard shortcut cut/paste, which is quite frustrating.

All in all, a good app that needs a few tweaks to be great, IMO.

Do you have a browser capable of storing bookmarks? Then you probably don't need this application, and probably won't like it.

I have my Google Mail, Docs, Cal, etc bookmarked under the toolbar on Firefox. It's easier for me to just click it from within Firefox rather than open up another program for one specific website.

This is a bad example of what AIR is capable of.

However if you feel like wasting a bit of time, it installs and runs really quick, so you can judge for yourself in a matter of a minute or so.

Gmail font a tad small ..... but an excellent app overall. I installed AIR on my new laptop specifically so I could install GMDesk. Good stuff.

I realize people are still trying to get used to AIR and what we developers can do with it, but I really frown on Apps like this. This just calls in URLs for GMail/GDocs/etc. An app like this is a great starting point for AIR Developers, but it's not worth putting live: I'd much rather open my GMail in Firefox than this.

Nice Appli but fonts are too small, Very dificult to read.

fonts are too small to read. The checkbox behavior in gmail is strange. my inbox has checkboxes where there are no emails... Also, the calendar pop-up has no height/width set so you have to manually re-size each time.
