Description:

An Adobe® AIR™-based deal-site monitoring application. It runs in your system tray (yeah… windows systems are currently the only supported. It does run on a mac, but there are some glitches with menus — I’m fixing these shortly) and alerts you once an update has been posted to one of several deal sites. In reality, it’s nothing more than a glorified RSS reader with some customized styling. In it’s current release, it’s a closed source application because it’s a customized list of deal sites and I’m offering it as a companion application on a few other sites. However, I will be releasing the RSS reader/alerter part of it as open source shortly which will allow you to build your own RSS feed alerting application.

Currently, the featured deal-sites are Woot (with support for Woot-offs), Gottadeal, Passwird, Slick Deals, Buy.com and Amazon’s Gold Box. If you have any other deal-site suggestions, please let me know.

Great idea for an app. If only it could be redone with better GUI and controls such as resizing, minimizing, moving, closing. Basic functions you'd expect. Anyhow good effort though.

This app finds great deals, but as the earlier review stated, the design is lackluster. Aside from the fact that most deals are posted in a drop down, which is extremely non user-friendly, the pop-up window does not have a minimize button, which means that you have to go to the task bar and right click there, find the right option, and select it to minimize the window. Not to mention when it pops up (once every 5-10 minutes) it overlays everything on your screen and also cannot be moved out of the way. The only way to move it in any fashion is through the right click method described.

Recommendations:
- add an easier way to minimize and move the window
- add an option to have the task bar flash as opposed to the whole window pop open when a new deal is posted.
- change the UI so that deals are listed in a scrollable window as opposed to in a drop down box.

If those things get added, I'd definitely use this app.

Why on earth the deals (hundred, could be thousand) are inside a PULL DOWN MENU? bad UI design.
