Mike Baker joined the computer based education field with a background in applications programming. He started out building CBT in TenCORE for the electrical engineers at Hoover Dam. Shortly thereafter Mike was introduced to version 1.0.2 of Macromedia Authorware. For the next 13 years Mike has been using Authorware and other Macromedia tools to build a wide variety of training and applications. His favorites are database driven engines or templates for rapid development. He’s been a guest speaker at TAAC conferences, the Texas Authorware Workshop, and at user group gatherings.
Mike has also had the privilege of working for Macromedia on the Authorware team. From 2001 to 2006, working on versions 6.0, 6.5, and 7.0, he enjoyed bringing many new features to the application such as media synchronization, opening file and icon data to external commands, and a new deployment scheme for the Authorware Web Player 2004.
Authorware will always be one of his favorites, but Mike has always believed in the concept of using the right tool for the right job. Mike also uses Flash, Director, Dreamweaver, Visual Basic, C++, and C# among others when the need arises.
