Enabling forms for Adobe Reader

In the past, users working with Adobe® Reader could fill out a form and print the form, but they couldn't save the form data.

Requirements

To complete this article, you will need the following software:

Adobe Reader

Prerequisite knowledge:

None

To enable the form for users working with Adobe Reader 7 or 8, choose Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader.

The Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader dialog opens explaining the outcome of enabling the usage rights, which includes:

  • Allowing the saving of form data.
  • Allowing the use of commenting and drawing markup tools.
  • Signing existing signature fields.
  • Digitally signing anywhere on the page if used in Adobe Reader 8.
  • Restricting some editing features.
