
Animated backgrounds are used in just about every area of video postproduction. You see them all the time behind “talking heads,” as part of DVD motion menus, as the foundation of interstitial graphics on TV (like “here’s what’s coming up next”), and as elements in complex motion design pieces. In Adobe® After Effects® 7.0, we include an entire set of Background Animation presets, which make it easy to get started. But it really isn’t hard to create your own animated backgrounds from scratch if you learn a few basic concepts.
