About the authors

Stefan Sagmeister, a native of Austria, received his MFA in graphic design from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and, as a Fulbright Scholar, a master's degree from Pratt Institute in New York.

He formed the New York based Sagmeister Inc. in 1993 and has since designed graphics and packaging for the Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, and Lou Reed. Sagmeister Inc’s work has won international design awards and most recently a Grammy for the box set “Once in a Lifetime” of the Talking Heads. In 2001 a best selling monograph aout his work titled “Sagmeister, Made you Look” was published by Booth-Clibborn editions. Solo shows on Sagmeister Inc's work have been mounted in Zurich, Vienna, New York, Cologne, and Seoul. Stefan has always worked hard to keep the studio small (currently himself, Matthias Ernstberger, and one intern). He lectures extensively on all continents and in summer 2004 worked as a guest professor at the UDK in Berlin.
