Artist and creative director Brian Yap combines traditional, hand-drawn illustration techniques with the convenience of anywhere, always-on tablet technologies, pushing creative boundaries by using the latest touch app technology to create illustrations in a new way.
Yap achieves his high-contrast, pen and ink–inspired look without compromise, using Adobe® Ideas to draw directly on the tablet. He then sends his designs as scalable vector files to Adobe Illustrator® software via Adobe Creative Cloud™. Working this way, he leapfrogs the traditional sketching, scanning, and inking steps of the design process he used previously.
"Now I go straight from basic idea into Adobe Ideas to create the vector artwork," say Yap, who also takes advantage of his newfound mobility to break free from always being bound to his desk. Yap says that "sometimes getting out into different environments for inspiration will break you out of a creative rut and have you realize that you would rather work in places other than your office."
