Creating Auto Shapes for Fireworks MX 2004

This tutorial teaches you how to create Auto Shapes for use with Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004. An Auto Shape is a vector object group that a Fireworks user can add to a canvas. Each Auto Shape provides control points to allow the user to modify various parameters. When the user manipulates a control point, a particular visual property of the shape changes. An Auto Shape can be distributed as a Fireworks extension.

To create an Auto Shape, you must have basic knowledge of JavaScript, as well as some experience in general programming.

For more information than this tutorial provides on the methods and properties of an Auto Shape, see Extending Fireworks, which you can download from the Macromedia Exchange website.
