18   Creative Suite Installs and Issues

Creative Suite documents and resources related to enterprise deployments reside at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html.

18.1   10.x installs using AAMEE 3.1

This document describes how to install a standalone instance of Adobe Acrobat X when you have a Creative Suite 6 license but not a standalone Adobe Acrobat X license.

  2. Click the Build button and build the installer.
  3. When done, choose Close.

18.1.3   Customize the installer

At this point of the deployment process, you can use the Adobe Customization Wizard X to create a customized Acrobat deployment package. For example, you could disable Acrobat updates in the Acrobat package because the AAMEE 3.1 customized updater settings have no effect on Acrobat updates. The Wizard is included as an MSI installer file in AAMEE 3.1 folder on your system at a location like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\Enterprise\utilities \AcrobatCustomizationWizard\10.0\CustWiz1000_en_US.msi.

Also note, that on Mac OS X, the Mac Acrobat package can be packaged as part of the main AAMEE 3.1 deployment package. Preference PLIST files and FeatureLockDown files need to be edited post install. For more information, see chapter 4 of CS6 Deployment Guide at:

http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite /pdfs/AdobeApplicationManagerEnterpriseEditionDeploymentGuide_v_3_1.pdf#page=104.

18.1.4   Installing the Acrobat Package

After you’ve customized the installer as needed, install the AAMEE 3.1 Acrobat X Pro CS6 standalone package as follows:

  1. Open the Command Prompt.
  2. Choose Run as Administrator.
  3. In the Command prompt window, navigate to the “AcroPro.msi” file which was newly created Acrobat X Pro CS6 installation package in the Exceptions folder. For example:

C:\Desktop\AcrobatX CS6 Standalone\Exceptions\AcrobatProfessional0.0-EFG\AcroPro.msi.

  1. Install Adobe Acrobat X Pro via the command prompt using the command line with the following syntax:
msiexec.exe /i AcroPro.msi INSTALLDIR="[INSTALLDIR]\Acrobat 10.0" EULA_ACCEPT=NO
REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS=YES SUITEMODE=1 TRANSFORMS=[installLanguage].mst INSTALLLEVEL=101
AS_DISABLE_LEGACY_COLOR=1 IGNOREAAM=1 /qn

For example:

msiexec.exe /i AcroPro.msi INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"
EULA_ACCEPT=NO REGISTRATION_SUPPRESS=YES SUITEMODE=1 TRANSFORMS=en_US.mst INSTALLLEVEL=101
AS_DISABLE_LEGACY_COLOR=1 IGNOREAAM=1 /qn
  1. Test your build by watching the processes that use the msiexec.exe and msiexec.exe *32 until they complete in the task manager. If you were deploying the application, you would be using other tools to monitor the progress of the installation.
  2. Install the 10.1.1. patch from the command prompt with the following syntax.
msiexec.exe /p PATCH=AcrobatUpd1011.msp /qn

You can apply additional Acrobat patches (e.g. version 10.1.7 updater patch) if necessary at this point of the installation process using the same command line syntax as above.

  1. Test your build by watching the processes that use the msiexec.exe and msiexec.exe *32 until they complete in the task manager. If you were deploying the application, you would be using other tools to monitor the progress of the installation.
  2. Navigate to the AAMEE built package MSI file in the build folder via the Command Prompt. For example: C:\Desktop\Acrobat X CS6 Standalone Package\Build.
  3. Install the AAMEE built package with the command line syntax msiexec.exe /i <pkg_name>.msi /quiet. For example:
msiexec.exe /i "Acrobat X CS6 Standalone Package.msi" /quiet

If you have spaces in the file name, place quotes around the MSI file name as the example above.

  1. Test your build by watching the processes that use the msiexec.exe and msiexec.exe *32 until they complete in the task manager. If you were deploying the application, you would be using other tools to monitor the progress of the installation.

  2. Verify the applications have been installed properly by launching and testing the following:

    • Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
    • Launch Adobe Acrobat X Distiller.
    • Launch Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES.
