Comment and markup files

To comment and mark up your files:

  1. Display the main menu by tapping the top of the screen.
  2. Tap the comment and markup icon:
  3. Tap one of the action icons in the top menu.

Add a comment

To comment and mark up your files, open the annotations menu:

  1. Tap .
  2. Enter a comment in the comment pod.
  3. Tap Save.

Setting a comment author name

To set the name that appears with your comments:

  1. With Reader open, tap your phone's Menu icon.
  2. Tap Settings > Author name.
  3. In the Author Name field, enter a new name and tap OK.

Highlight text

  1. Tap .
  2. Drag over the text to highlight.
  3. To change the highlight appearance, tap the highlighted text and tap Clear, Color, or Opacity.

Strike out (cross out) text

  1. Tap .
  2. Drag over the text to draw a line through the middle of the text.
  3. To change the strike out appearance, tap the text and tap Clear, Color, or Opacity.

Underline text

  1. Tap .
  2. Drag over the text to underline.
  3. To change the underline appearance, tap the underlined text and tap Clear, Color, or Opacity.

Add new text

  1. Tap .
  2. Enter text in the text pod.
  3. Tap Save.
  4. If you’d like to change the text, tap the text to delete, edit, change the font size, or set the color.

Draw freehand text and shapes

  1. Tap .
  2. Draw as needed.
  3. Tap Save.

Add a handwritten signature

  1. Tap . If you have not already created a signature, a screen appears where you can draw a free hand signature.
  2. Tap where you would like to add a signature.
  3. Sign your name.
  4. Set the font thickness as desired.
  5. Tap Save.

Edit your saved signature

If you have not already created a signature, tapping invokes a screen where you can draw a free hand signature. If you already have a signature:

  1. Tap .
  2. Tap anywhere in the document.
  3. Tap Edit Saved Signature.
  4. Cloar or modify your signature as needed.
  5. Tap Save.

Change the signature appearance

  1. Tap an existing signature.
  2. From the menu, tap Thickness, Color, Opacity, or Delete.

Delete an annotation

  1. Long press the comment or annotation.
  2. When the Open|Delete popup appears, tap Delete or Clear.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see my comments, form data, or signatures in my PDF?

It may be that you are not using Adobe's Reader. Other PDF viewers such as Apple Email may not support all the features that Adobe's Reader supports. View your PDFs with Reader, and if you send it to someone else, encourage the recipient to do the same.

How can I list annotations?

This feature is currently unsupported.

Can I comment on password protected PDFs?

No.
