Comments and annotations

Why don't I see my comments, form data, or signatures in my PDF?

It may be that you are not using Adobe's Reader. Other PDF viewers such as Apple Email may not support all the features that Adobe's Reader supports. View your PDFs with Reader, and if you send it to someone else, encourage the recipient to do the same.

How can I list annotations?

This feature is currently unsupported.

Can I comment on password protected PDFs?

No.

Dynamic content

How can I play my Facebook or other games?

Flash-based content cannot be viewed in Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader only supports viewing PDF documents. There is no Flash player for the iPad or iPhone.

How can I rotate a PDF image?

Rotating pages or images in PDF pages is currently not supported.

Note that the viewing experience for some documents is better if you lock the screen orientation. To do so on an iPad, see the Apple article at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085.

How can I unenroll from the Product Improvment Program?

Adobe periodically collects anonymous, non-personal usage data in order to improve Reader. If you would like to disable this feature:

  1. From the device home screen, choose Settings.
  2. Choose Adobe Reader.
  3. Move the Provide Usage Data slider to Off.

File Management

How do I backup files?

Backing up your files involves syncing your device. For example, sync your iPhone with iTunes. All your phone-resident files will now also reside on your computer.

Creating mobile-friendly PDFs

How should I deal with fonts?

Fonts should be embedded. This is particulary true to esoteric fonts such as Arabic.

Can I disable field and link highlighting?

No. Disabling or changing the color is currently not supported.

How can I find and view log files?

To view crash log(s) on your computer, sync your device. Log file names start with the application name and have the extension .crash. The files reside at:

How can I determine my Reader version?

  1. From the device home screen, choose Settings.
  2. Choose Adobe Reader.
  3. Check the Version field.

How do I determine my iOS version?

  1. From the device home screen, choose Settings.
  2. Choose General > About > Version.
