Adobe AIR Developer Center for HTML and Ajax

Getting started

Follow these steps to start building your first HTML/Ajax application on Adobe AIR:

1. Download the Adobe AIR runtime.

   You need the runtime to launch AIR applications.

2. Download and install an IDE with AIR support; your options include:

   • Aptana Studio
   • Adobe Dreamweaver CS3/CS4 with Adobe AIR Extension for Dreamweaver

   Note: If you prefer working with a text editor, use the Adobe AIR SDK. The AIR SDK includes all the tools you need to test and package AIR applications.

3. Familiarize yourself with the core concepts of developing and deploying applications for the desktop:

   • (Aptana Studio users) Get started with Adobe AIR development
   • (Dreamweaver users) Create your first HTML-based Adobe AIR application with Dreamweaver
   • (Adobe AIR SDK users) Create your first HTML-based Adobe AIR application with the Adobe AIR SDK
   • Distributing and updating applications
   • Getting started with the custom install badge
