Macromedia Captivate has several output options. These options might look very familiar, since most of the same options were available in previous versions of Macromedia RoboDemo. However, the Captivate team changed a lot of the architecture of these output options in the new version. Some of these changes include better support for the AICC and SCORM standards in general, along with support for the SCORM 2004 standard and e-mail integration.
The goal of this document is to give an overview and help you understand the tracking mechanisms that are available in Captivate. It will not address specific benefits of using a Learning Management System (LMS), or integration efforts with any of the tracking options. These topics will be covered in other articles in the Captivate Developer Center, in the near future.
For the purpose of this document, I may refer to the output options as "tracking" or "tracking mechanism," since I am essentially talking about tracking the results of Captivate files.
