One of the most critical components of communication is language and how the meaning in language can be conveyed by various methods. Second only to the spoken word in their importance to language and meaning, are non-verbal gestures. Until now, organizations have faced constant challenges from the conflict between the most effective manner of providing communication training, such as one-on-one instruction with mentors, and the excessive costs in both development and execution of such methods.
Today, the availability of tools such as Adobe Captivate and Vcommunicator® Studio 2.0 reduces these costs and increases the effectiveness of individual training through a blend of programmable and life-like mentor characters, user interaction, and multiple result scenarios. This article outlines how Vcom3D, Inc. utilizes these powerful tools to demonstrate a proof of concept for a scenario-based customer service training module.
In order to make the most of this article and replicate the results of the demo, you need the following software and files:
Unzip all files to a directory and open demo.cp (for the captioned version) or demo_non.cp (for the non-captioned version).
You should have a working knowledge of Adobe Flash and Adobe Captivate. Familiarity with timeline-based scripting is helpful when using Vcommunicator® Studio. Experience with 3D art, 3D animation, or both, is also helpful, but not necessary.
