Creating Close Window and Back Links in Macromedia Contribute

When visitors come to your site, you need them to follow links to other pages that open in new browser windows. It’s important that each new window contains a "Close Window" link that closes the window so that visitors can easily return to the initial page.

Why do you need to do this? It's a matter of usability. Without a "close window" link, visitors may quickly become confused by all of the open windows. In this article, I take you through how to create a link that closes a window.

Also, to make your site more convenient to visitors and to give it a more professional look, you can add a back link that functions like a browser’s back button. I will show you how to add both Close Window and Back links with a text-based link, an image-based link, and a Macromedia Flash button-based link. You can see the end product of what you will create in the following examples:
