Integrating Macromedia Contribute 3 and the Interwoven TeamSite 6.0 Enterprise Content Management System

The Unique and Contrasting Roles of Contribute 3 and Interwoven TeamSite

Most typical web content management needs can be met with the deployment of Macromedia Contribute 3 and the Macromedia Web Publishing System. However, in cases where the workflow and versioning requirements of an organization are very complex a traditional Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) is required.

My organization falls into this latter category of unique groups that have extremely complex workflow and versioning requirements. For this reason, we use Interwoven TeamSite as our ECMS.

The primary focus of Interwoven’s latest ECMS (TeamSite 6.1) is two-fold: versioning and workflow. Little attention is given to the important aspect of the end user (i.e. content owner) web editing experience. This leads to frustrated users who are less than eager to add or modify content.

My organization uses Contribute 3 to fill this critical gap and in doing so adds a layer of usability that our content owners appreciate.
