Changes to the Macromedia Flash Asset Xtra in Director MX 2004

Macromedia Director MX 2004 has once again made some significant advances in the level of integration of Macromedia Flash content. Director MX 2004 expands upon the framework laid down in Director MX, making the control and manipulation of Macromedia Flash sprites almost seamless. The new version has two major feature enhancements. It supports for Flash 2004 SWF files. It can also use a subset of the Flash v2 components (new in Flash MX 2004) within the Director authoring system.

While these are major enhancements, there are a number of more subtle, yet exciting, changes that have occurred “under the hood” in Director MX 2004. These changes include the ability to group a number of Macromedia Flash cast members together to play back using a common instance of the Flash Asset Xtra. Director’s ability to manipulate Macromedia Flash SWFs and objects through Lingo and the new JavaScript syntax language has also improved.
