Building a website with Web Premium CS4 – Part 14: Creating a blog with InContext Editing

Welcome to Part 14 of the Building a website with Web Premium CS4 tutorial series. In this part, you'll complete the following tasks:

  • Configure an existing PHP page to use with InContext Editing, a new Adobe online service that allows you to add content and maintain a web page within a web browser.
  • Sign up for InContext Editing, and then add and modify site content, and publish your changes.

Note: If you've just arrived at this section, you may want to go to Part 1 and start following along from the beginning. Or, if you prefer, you can download the sample files provided below and start following the instructions that are outlined here. The steps in this tutorial assume that you've installed the web server and application server, and defined a Dreamweaver site (as described in Part 2).

You'll also need FTP access a remote site as described in Part 3. If you don't have a hosting account to upload your site files via FTP to a public website, you won't be able to follow along with all of the steps in this tutorial. You can use the provided instructions to set up a web page to prepare it for use with InContext Editing, but you won't be able to upload the file to the remote server or edit the page through a browser.

If you've followed all of the steps in previous articles and want to continue with the files you've already created, download and extract the sample files in exercisefiles_pt14_newfiles.zip. You'll find a new folder named images/blog that contains new image files that you'll use in the InContext Editing page, and a new PHP file named blog.php that you'll configure and use with the online service. Copy this file and folder to your local site root folder.
