Teaching the Adobe Flash Platform in Education
Learn how Full Sail University is using the Adobe Flash Platform to instruct students how to create rich Internet applications (RIAs) that access APIs and web services. This session will focus on employing the Flash Platform along with design and development methods to teach students how to design, build, and deploy their own RIAs. We'll show examples of how students implement the Flash Platform, including the Flash and Flex Builder authoring environments along with the Flash Player and AIR runtimes.

Prestigious Graduate Animation Program Integrates Adobe Tools Into Curriculum
Students from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London combine traditional skills in animation, drawing and performance with Adobe software to produce a spectrum of work that ranges from commercial 'live' briefs to experimental conceptual art. In this session, Birgitta Hosea, Course Director will take you through how the program is structured and show examples of student work.

Student Work and Curricular Design From RIT Interactive Games and Media Department
 Interactive Games and Media department at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is home to world renowned programs in new media interactive development and game design and development. This session explores the use of the Adobe products as a platform for academic support as students explore the design process through team based development and assessment. Before our graduates work at top firms such as Microsoft Games Studios, Activision, Google and Facebook, they are exploring social media and interactivity concepts. Specific examples of curricular design and student work will be highlighted across Flex, Flash, Director, and Photoshop.

Customizing the University Experience with a Rich Media Delivery System
Explore the potential of developing a customized, security-focused, RSS-driven delivery solution. This session shows how you can use Adobe Flash Media Rights Management Server, Flash Media Server 3, and Adobe Media Player software to create an end-to-end video and audio delivery solution in which content is branded to your own specifications. Also find out how the Flash Media Server plug-in architecture can be used to create custom authorization adaptors, such as validation with an external LDAP server. In addition, see how to leverage Flash Media Rights Management Server for offline playback of your video.

Exploring New Uses for Rich Internet Applications in Education
Kellen Maicher from Purdue University will demonstrate the development of several AIR applications that integrate Flash, AIR, and Flex into existing curriculum. Maicher will describe the evolution of course material from primarily Flash-based content to the integration of other aspects of the Flash platform including AIR and Flex. This includes a description of content as well as successful integration strategies at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The session also will include demonstrations of various AIR applications developed by students including a 3D information visualization program, a multi-touch application for collaborative design, and a mixed reality video chat system.

RIA Uses in Education: Working Smarter, Not Harder
See examples and hear strategies on maximizing the use of rich Internet applications (RIAs) in education while still providing the user with a personal experience. Learn how Miami University architects RIAs for education using Flash Catalyst, Flash Builder, and Adobe AIR. This session features an overview of models of development and looks under the hood at a few higher education applications built in Flex Builder and Flash Catalyst, and delivered with AIR.
