Create your first Facebook application with Flex

Sign up with Facebook

If you're new to Facebook, start by creating a Facebook account and adding some friends. In order to build an application that talks to the Facebook server, you have to have a Facebook account.

Note: If you already have a Facebook account, you can skip this section and continue with Adding the Facebook Developer application and registering an application below.

1. Open a browser and go to the Facebook website.

2. In the Sign Up form on the right side of the page, enter your name, email, password and other personal info, and then click the Sign Up button (see Figure 1).

3. In the Security Check text box, enter the characters you see in the image and then click the Sign Up button.
4. Open your email and wait until you receive a confirmation email from Facebook. (Be patient, this may take up to 15 minutes.)
5. When you receive the email from Facebook, click the confirmation link. This takes you to the Facebook website where you can step through the rest of the setup process.

6. Complete the setup process to find and add some friends to your profile (see Figure 2).
