The Lasso tool in Adobe Flash Professional enables you to select objects on the Stage by encircling them with a marquee. There are two options when using the Lasso tool: freehand (the default setting), Polygon Mode, and Magic Wand.
Using the Lasso tool with the Magic Wand modifier, you can select areas of a bitmap graphic that contain the same or similar colors. Click the Magic Wand settings to specify the Threshold and Smoothing values. Experiment with different settings to choose the selection options that work best with the bitmap content you want to select.

Note: Using the Lasso tool and its Polygon Mode modifier, you can switch back and forth between the freehand and straight-edged selection modes.
