Many developers have shown interest in taking a look at the source files for the ActionScript 2.0 Flash video gallery project. We're providing them here for you to play with; feel free to investigate the code and structure of the FLA and the supporting files. To install the Sample files, simply unzip the archive to your hard drive. You should be able to run the movie as is.
The archive file contains:
- Project's main FLA (shell.fla)
- Published version of the FLA file (shell.swf) and its accompanying HTML page (shell.html)
- SWF files containing each customer video
- Dependent ActionScript (AS) class files
- A content.xml file that holds text information the FLA consumes
Classes used by shell.fla are in a folder called flashvideogallery within the com folder. You should either add a classpath to the com folder or drop it into your current classpath. (For more information on the classpath, check the Flash Help, which is installed with Flash.)
The ActionScript 2.0 Flash video gallery is an interactive showcase of customer videos that the Macromedia marketing team produced using Flash MX Professional 2004. Due to continued interest in this sample application, we have updated the video gallery to ActionScript 3.0 using the FLVPlayback component and external FLV files.
One of the features of the gallery is that it lets visitors filter the videos and preview a site they are interested in. Here's how users interact with the video gallery:
- Visitors to the gallery can roll over a thumbnail of a video and preview it
- They can filter the videos by industry and region
- Clicking one of the thumbnails reveals a preview of a Flash video website, which a user can then choose to visit
