Flex for Java developers

Short learning curve, similarities in languages, and MVC architecture make Flex a natural integration choice for Java developers. In this technical session, Adobe's technical evangelist James Ward introduces you to rich Internet applications and Flex. He also shows through a demo how you can productively create expressive, high-performance applications that run identically in all major browsers, operating systems, and soon on the desktop.

Adobe offers live, in-depth product presentations called eSeminars—technical discussions led by product engineers, technical support engineers, and customer leaders. eSeminar content varies across all Adobe products and technical levels.

Adobe eSeminars are recorded online using Acrobat Connect. There is no charge to participate. While you are viewing, please keep in mind that these presentations were delivered to a live audience.

For a list of upcoming eSeminars, view the eSeminar schedule. For a list of past eSeminars, visit the onDemand page.

About the author

James Ward is a Technical Evangelist for Flex at Adobe and Adobe's JCP representative to JSR 286, 299, and 301. Much like his love for climbing mountains he enjoys programming because it provides endless new discoveries, elegant workarounds, summits and valleys. His adventures in climbing have taken him many places. Likewise, technology has brought him many adventures, including: Pascal and Assembly back in the early '90s; Perl, HTML, and JavaScript in the mid '90s; then Java and many of its frameworks beginning in the late '90s. Today he primarily uses Flex to build beautiful front ends for Java based back ends. Prior to working at Adobe, James built a rich marketing and customer service portal for Pillar Data Systems.
