How To Get Started
Follow the steps below to download the new LiveCycle ES Update
1 software:
- Download or purchase the trial version of LiveCycle ES Update 1.
- Download the trial version of LiveCycle ES Update 1 and select the download file that corresponds with the web application server that you will be running the software on. Be sure to retrieve the serial number that is also located on the trials download page.
- Purchase the DVD trial version of LiveCycle ES for North America or Europe from the Adobe.com store.
- We have a turn key option with the JBoss
download which is ideal for evaluation purposes. This will install the application
server, database, and samples with just a few mouse clicks.
As part of the turnkey installation you will be asked if
LiveCycle PDF Generator ES should be configured for native file conversions.
This feature can convert Microsoft Word, Excel, and many other file formats to
PDF files. If you would like to configure LiveCycle PDF Generator ES for this
purpose, a licensed copy for Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional Extended should be
installed on the server.
If you do not already own a valid copy of Adobe Acrobat 9
Professional Extended, please follow these instructions to use a free trial
version of the software for 30 days.
- Before starting the installation of
LiveCycle ES Update 1, download the
trial version of Acrobat 9 Professional Extended. Install this trial
version of Acrobat before running the LiveCycle installer.
- During the LiveCycle ES Update 1
installation process, answer "yes" when asked if native file conversions
are required. You will see a message that shows that the correct version
of Acrobat was detected.
- After the installation and configuration
steps are complete your trial version of Acrobat will be running. You
will have 30 days to test the software before a licensed version is
purchased.
Note: The trial version requires a manual dialog box acknowledgement each
time it is restarted. To acknowledge the trial software navigate to the main
console for the server and click "OK" at the trial version prompt.
- Retrieve the LiveCycle Reader Extensions
ES certificate. The LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES certificate is
referenced by our samples and is needed for Reader Extensions
functionality. The certificate is updated each month.
- Visit the LiveCycle
ES documentation page to get installation and configuration documents.
- Developer questions around the LiveCycle technology may be posted on
the >Adobe user-to-user forums for LiveCycle.
