A guide to the Adobe RoboHelp 7 Customer Care sample project

Background information

The Customer Care project is a fictitious Experience Bank that requires an information system that describes some of its products and communicates sales information, such as the bank’s bonus scheme.

The fictitious scenario is targeted at the staff of Experience Bank to use behind the scenes, rather than when in direct contact with customers. It is not intended to be a sales tool wherein staff and customer interact; rather, a it is a means for the sales department of the bank to push information to its branches.

This scenario enables the author:

  • To show the use of variables by aiming the information mainly at staff in two countries, the USA and the UK. Variables are used to deal with the two different currencies in use and also some of the terminology differences, such as Auto Loans and Car Loans.
  • To show the use of snippets by writing up the details of the various loans so that some aspects could be common to more than one type of loan.
  • To show the use of the new multiple Tables of Contents by creating different outputs requiring different layouts.
  • To include search highlighting and breadcrumbs in WebHelp and FlashHelp.

The following sections describe how the various topics were approached and the use of the new features and interface. The outputs that were created will also be described. Imagine that you are have been tasked with producing this project for Experience Bank and that its release will be in stages, adding further products as the project progresses.
